Individual Therapy

When life feels out of control, the road ahead often feels overwhelming and confusing. Music therapy can be an empowering way to process hardships, discover coping skills, and regain a sense of control and agency.

In individual music therapy sessions, areas that may be addressed include coping and relaxation skills, self-care, emotional exploration and expression, or effective communication skills through music interventions like music listening, lyric analysis, songwriting, and expressive music making.

Who may benefit:

No prior musical experience is necessary to participate in and benefit from music therapy!

When and where:

Individual music therapy sessions are 50 minutes long and either take place at our clinic or online through a HIPAA-compliant teletherapy platform.

Our expertise:

At Music & Miracles, we specialize in music therapy for mental health, fertility challenges, pregnancy, postpartum, and loss.

Couples and Family Therapy

When life takes unexpected turns, sometimes it can be difficult to manage new challenges as well as changing family dynamics. Music therapy can be a motivating, approachable way to work through obstacles and strengthen family bonds together through music.

In each session:

In a couples and family music therapy session, the music therapist and family work together to address emotional, psychological, cognitive, social, communication, motor, or spiritual goals using a variety of musical interventions. Potential music therapy experiences might include music listening, lyric analysis, songwriting, and expressive instrument play.

Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth

In music therapy assisted childbirth, families work with a board-certified music therapist throughout pregnancy to develop an evidence-based birth plan that includes personalized playlists, custom womb songs, live musical support during birth, and considerations for using music during postpartum.

In each package:

Each music therapy assisted childbirth package includes three prenatal sessions, live support during labor and delivery, access to personalized playlists, recording of a custom womb song, and one postpartum session.

Who may benefit:

Music therapy assisted childbirth is perfect for parents who want to harness the power of music to create a loving, empowering birth experience for them and their baby.

Why use music:

Research shows that when used appropriately during pregnancy and childbirth, music can decrease pain and discomfort, create a sense of empowerment, and strengthen bonds between the birthing parents and baby.

When and where:

New Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth clients are accepted based on the availability of the therapist. Because the music therapist will be present during the birth, music therapy assisted childbirth packages are limited to parents planning to give birth in Middle TN.

Additional Services

Womb Song and Lullaby Creation

A womb song is an original song written for your baby to sing for them while still in utero to welcome them to the world. Each womb song is a personalized collaboration created by the parents and music therapist, and is crafted to be neurologically safe and stimulating for the baby.

In each package:

Each custom womb song package includes a 30-minute interview, revision, and professional recording.

Who may benefit:

The womb song package is perfect for parents who value the power of music, but don’t want a live music therapist to support them during labor. Womb songs also make a great personalized gift for expecting parents!

Why womb songs:

As early as 15 weeks, babies in the womb begin to hear the world around them. Research shows that not only do babies learn to recognize their parents’ voices before they’re born, but that they also recognize individual songs and melodies learned while still in the womb.
